My Homelab in 2026 — A Complete Overview

Author

I build things — from Kubernetes clusters to custom circuit boards. Cloud infrastructure professional by day, electronics tinkerer and homelab enthusiast by night.

Running a homelab is one of the most rewarding hobbies for any tech enthusiast. Here is a tour of my current setup as of mid-2026.

The Network
#

At the core sits a UniFi UCG-Fiber gateway with a USW-Pro-XG-8-PoE 10G switch. Seven VLANs segment traffic: Trusted, Servers, IoT, Media, Guest, Lab, and Management.

Two U7-Pro-XGS access points provide WiFi 6E coverage across both floors.

Virtualisation
#

A compact Proxmox host runs everything — 10+ LXC containers and 2 QEMU VMs, all on a single N5095 mini PC with 32GB RAM and LACP-bonded 2.5G NICs.

Monitoring
#

The full observability stack: Grafana for dashboards, Prometheus for metrics, Loki for logs, and custom alert rules that email me when things go sideways.

What is Next
#

CCTV cameras with Frigate for local AI detection, and a Zigbee mesh network for sensors.

More detailed posts on each component coming soon.
